Enterpreneur; Software Development Specialist

Codento, 2005-present

I currently work at a company called Codento as senior software development practices consultant and technical lead.

Software architect / Senior developer; Senior consultant, network security; Senior software engineer

SSH Communications Security Corp, 1999-2005

I have worked in SSH on three main areas: IPSec toolkits for OEMs (since sold to Safenet), training and consulting and centralized management systems. In these areas I have worked as a member in an engineering teams on architectural design, implementation and maintenance of SSH's products as well as a trainer & consultant responsible for direct customer communication, training & consulting planning and performing these tasks with high customer satisfaction.

For the period from 2003 to 2005 I was the software architect in the Tectia Manager team, a role which covered overall responsibility for the product architeture and ownership of the technical specification. This role required close communcation with project and product management to align design with customer needs and to deliver a top quality product on schedule.

Senior software engineer; Network and System Administrator

Satama Interactive, 1997-99

I have participated in design and construction of the data center in Satama Interactive, worked as network and systems administrator. However majority of my work was technical web page logic design and implementation for various projects both in-house and for external customers. My responsibilities included technical administration and development of a major web community site. These tasks have been done as part of teams of diverse talents (ad, copy, tech, manager etc.).

Software engineer

Ufolabs Finland, 1997

Ufolabs was a small company working for a major Finnish publishing company. I was responsible for creating the discussion forum for a major web community site.

Research assistant

Helsinki University of Technology, Multimedia and Telecommunication laboratory, 1996-97

Based on an earlier research project's results, I developed an IPSec implementation for Solaris operating system. This required independent research into the at-then emerging IPSec technology and intimate knowledge of the operating system kernel.

Research assistant

Helsinki University of Technology, Computing Science laboratory, 1995-96

I participated in a project researching on-line billing systems and developing a proof-of- concept micropayment system. The project was funded by a major Finnish telecommunication company. My contribution to the project was analysis of security of various on-line billing schemes and micropayment systems.

I have also offered my programming skills for contract sporadically under the name of (t:mi) Kryptogrammi.

 

Education

I study for M.Sc. in physics at the University of Helsinki.

Skills and Interests

I have experience on (in no particular order of proficiency): C, Perl, Java, Scheme, HTML, XML, SPARC assembler, Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, AIX, Solaris and Linux kernel programming, VMS, Windows, x86 assembler, OpenGL, PHIGS, MySQL, Oracle, SQL, ODBC, Gnome/GTK+, Motif, Mathematica, Matlab, Office suite, Pagemaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, Mason, Apache, and a lot of obsolete or otherwise uninteresting systems not worth mentioning.

I have keen interest in skydiving (C-license), astronomy and space exploration, photography (both digital and analog) and family life (with my wife, daughter and a cat).
